One of the Labour Party’s supporter, Kenneth Okonkwo, has cited three reasons that he thinks the swearing-in of the newly elected president on May 29 is unlawful.
He claims that the first reason Tinubu shouldn’t take the oath of office is that he has received two nominations, as he explained when he appeared on Arise Television. Kashim Shettima was already a candidate for the Senitoria party from Borno State when Tinubu picked him as his vice presidential running mate.
He asserted that because duplicate nominations are regarded as illegitimate by the Institution of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu’s ticket is invalid.
Another issue he brought up was that Tinubu does not own 25% of the Federal Capital Territory, as required by Nigeria’s constitution, and as a result, his oath of office will not be valid, which is wrong.
According to the data the LP party has and the petition they filed, the LP won in Rivers State and Taraba State in the North. Kenneth Okonkwo said that the votes of the people are not being tallied, and he thought Mr. Peter Obi would look into all of his points and the petition he has submitted.
