Abba Yusuf, the incoming governor of Kano State, wishes to get off to a bad start, according to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
According to reports, Ganduje and Yusuf, also known as Abba Gida-Gida, of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, had a verbal altercation on government property.
Abba Gida-Gida had been advised by Ganduje to wait until he had been sworn in as governor because he was still in control of the state.
The outgoing governor observed that the incoming governor has demonstrated a lack of direction in his leadership while speaking to reporters following a prayer organized for the incoming president, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at Government House in Kano.
The fact that such advice is unfounded, in Ganduje’s opinion, “is a practical indication and a practical symbol that their leadership has no sense of direction.”
He claimed that the governor-elect is acting as though he is already the governor of Kano State, despite the fact that he has yet to take office and is wishing him good governance.
He bemoaned the fact that someone would start giving such addresses, claiming that one could tell he was off to a bad start.
On March 18, the governor-elect won the gubernatorial election over All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governor Nasir Gawuna.
Gawuna at first disapproved of Yusuf’s victory, but later changed his mind and urged his supporters to embrace Abba Gida-Gida.
