Uzochukwu Akunedozi, chairman of Blake Resort, celebrates birthday with Abuja widows and presents 100 fatherless scholarship to recipients.
Mr. Uzochukwu Akunedozi, owner and chief executive officer (CEO) of Abuja’s premier nightclub and entertainment venue, Blake Resort, celebrated his birthday on Monday with more than 200 widows in Abuja and gave full scholarships to 100 of the widows’ children.
Akunedozi publicly identified with widows for the first time at a ceremony conducted at the Blake premises in front of family and friends, and he promised the women that he would continue the project.
Christopher Maikalangu, the chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), who was ably represented by Yunusa Amadu Yusuf, his special adviser on community development, praised Mr. Uzochukwu Akunedozi, the CEO of Blake Resort, for choosing FCT widows to celebrate with them and for giving 100 natives academic scholarships on his birthday.
The Honorable Chairman praised Akunedozi for keeping in mind the suffering widows in the FCT and for his promise to further ease their sufferings by providing 100 fatherless children of the widows with full scholarships.
Maikalangu also used the occasion to encourage other FCT residents to follow Blake boss’ lead and use their corporate social responsibility efforts to give back to the community where God had elevated them out of poverty.
The celebrant, Uzochukwu Akunedozi, spoke kindly to the widows and inspired and uplifted the attendees as he did so.
The widows learned that Akunedozi had contacted them on his birthday in an effort to relate to them and to make a request that they accept him as their son and enable him to care for them as such.
He assured the widows that what they had witnessed was only the beginning, and that he would check in with them occasionally going ahead.
He said, “You are incredibly important, which is why I chose to celebrate my birthday with you today. In addition to being essential as a woman, you are even more significant as a single parent.“
“Yusuf will meet you to compile their names and forward to me. This will start immediately and from time to time I will be inviting you to see more of you.”
In response, Yusuf thanked Akunedozi for his kindness on behalf of the recipients, who numbered over 200 hundred and were mostly Muslims. The women then prayed to God on behalf of their donor.
He let the Blake Chief know that the women were ecstatic about his interest in them and had happily adopted him as their sons upon their request.Each of the women received a bag of rice, a jar of ground nut oil, a tomato, a package of Maggi, and money as birthday presents.
