Speed Darlington, a controversial Nigerian rapper, has said that he should be paid for being a celebrity.
Darlington, who is based in the United States, made the statement while appearing on the latest episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, which is hosted by actor Nedu.
The rapper’s comments come after he was recently criticized for charging fans N5,000 to take photos with him.
On the podcast, Darlington defended his decision, saying that he should be compensated for being a celebrity.
“I really think I should be paid for being a celebrity,” he said.
Nedu argued that Darlington wouldn’t be a celebrity if his fans didn’t love him.
But Darlington disagreed, saying, “What generates that love? Why don’t they hug mad men on the street?”
Darlington’s comments have sparked a debate on social media, with some people supporting his right to be paid for his time, while others believe that he is being greedy.
It remains to be seen whether Darlington’s decision to charge fans for photos will affect his popularity. However, his comments have certainly generated a lot of discussion.
